Residence of the Consul in Rio de Janeiro
In the residence, people gather for negotiations, aperitifs, and festive occasions. For this, Frédéric Dedelley wanted to create a Swiss environment where the culture of the host country is felt everywhere. Furniture, textiles, and lighting fixtures are typical Swiss design, with materials and craftsmanship meeting the highest standards. However, for the colors and patterns, Dedelley was inspired by the surroundings, for example by Roberto Burle-Marx's Copacabana promenade. All furnishings can be rearranged and regrouped as needed, from an intimate setting for a confidential conversation to an auditorium for a film screening.

Swiss design language and Brazilian zest for life
For tailored project requirements such as the example of the residence in Rio, Ruckstuhl's in-house customizing department develops individual carpets. This can be a modification of an existing Ruckstuhl carpet, such as a different pile height, a new material combination, or other adjustments. Ruckstuhl also realizes complete new developments of carpets to unconditionally meet requirements and wishes. Customer-specific requirements regarding color, material, design, and construction can be transformed into an individual carpet composition – starting from just one carpet. There are hardly any design limits to the visions. The design possibilities range from the traditional elements of weaving craftsmanship to the latest robot and CAD technology, as well as individual wishes regarding finishing and final processing. To faithfully reproduce Frédéric Dedelley's specifications for representative use, the color blends made from melange virgin wool yarns were dyed in the Emmental and processed on the tufting robot in Ruckstuhl's Langenthal manufactory into high-quality carpet uniques according to special specifications. The result is two works of art that combine Swiss design language with the vibrant joie de vivre of Brazil.
