finishing

Since 1881, rugs have been created in Langenthal—not merely manufactured, but perfected.

FROM WEAVING TO OBJECT

Every situation has different requirements. Some demand millimetre precision, others individual shapes, special materials or solutions that are created on site.

At Ruckstuhl, finishing transforms a textile material into a finished object—tailored to the architecture, its use and the people who live with it.

For us, however, finishing means far more than processing a carpet. It encompasses consultation, project management, production, logistics and support through to the final seam on site.

This is how textile solutions are created that fit precisely into their architectural surroundings—manufactured in Langenthal since 1881

Manufactured to the exact millimeter

No rug is like another, and each one is custom-made to customer specifications. Your selection from a variety of materials, textures, color schemes, and edging options forms the basis of our work in tailoring. Modern cutting technology and decades of experience enable the precise execution of standard formats as well as complex custom designs.

The degree makes the difference

The edging often shapes the effect of a carpet more strongly than one might initially assume. It protects the edge, defines the contour, and gives the object its architectural precision.

In addition to classic versions with satin, reps, leather, linen, wool felt, the workshop creates individual solutions or those with customer-specific materials. Different widths, special leathers, customer-owned fabrics, as well as specially executed corner solutions open up almost unlimited design possibilities.

Rounded corners, chamfered geometries, large radii, or completely individual contours are implemented just as naturally as classic rectangular shapes.

When standard is not enough

Some projects cannot be translated into predefined formats. Organic floor plans, curved architecture, extraordinary spatial concepts, or dimensions that exceed the width of a loom or a material roll require individual solutions.

Based on CAD data, templates, or on-site recordings, rugs are created that fit precisely into their surroundings. Free forms, oversized formats, special cutouts, and architectural special solutions have been part of the manufactory's everyday life for decades.

Through precise joining and processing techniques, even large-area rugs can be realized. Seams, transitions, and connections are executed in such a way that they harmoniously blend into the overall picture and preserve the character of the material.

Where standard ends, Ruckstuhl begins.

Craftsmanship in every stitch

Despite modern manufacturing technologies, manual processing remains an essential part of finishing.

Sewing, inspecting, aligning, and completing – many steps are still done by hand today. Experience, material knowledge, and care determine the quality of the final product.

No carpet leaves the workshop until every detail is perfect.

Completed on site

Not every challenge can be solved in the workshop. Some carpets are only finally adjusted on the construction site or in the finished building.

Cutouts for floor tanks, cable entries, or technical installations can be made directly on site. Likewise, large-format carpets that cannot be installed as a whole due to their size are only assembled and finished at the destination.

Custom Runners

Stairs and corridors are among the most demanding applications for textile floor coverings.

For runners, staircases are measured on-site in collaboration with planners, and the required cuts are individually calculated. Landings, changes in direction, special shapes, and historic staircases often require tailor-made solutions.

Upon request, Ruckstuhl also assists with the procurement of new stair rods or the restoration of existing historic systems.

This results in solutions that harmoniously integrate into the architecture and last for decades.

Receive instead of replace

Many rugs accompany their owners for decades. Often, professional restoration is enough to breathe new life into them.

In the workshop, rugs can be cleaned, re-edged, repaired, or refreshed. Damaged edges are replaced, bindings renewed, and signs of wear professionally treated.

Extending the lifespan is not only sustainable but also a reflection of conscious handling of high-quality materials.

Special equipment

Architecture today demands much more than just design. Depending on the area of application, carpets must meet additional technical requirements.

Through special treatments, materials can be made flame-retardant or equipped with additional protection systems. Applications like Top Care facilitate cleaning and maintenance and support long-term value retention.

Together with architects, planners, and clients, solutions are developed that equally meet aesthetic and technical requirements.

International Project Management

Every project begins long before a carpet is manufactured. Already in the planning phase, we support architects, interior designers, specialist dealers, and clients in developing suitable solutions.

This includes international on-site appointments, measurements, the creation of templates, as well as the technical examination of installation situations. Together, material transitions, room geometries, connections, and constructive details are defined to ensure smooth implementation later on. Careful planning is especially the foundation for a convincing result with large-format carpets, historic buildings, or complex floor plans.

We accompany international projects in six languages – German, French, English, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese – thus creating short paths between planning, production, and execution.

Often, solutions arise that go far beyond the actual manufacturing.

When the path becomes a challenge

Already during project planning, we analyze access points, stairwells, elevators, transport routes, and the eventual installation situation. Together with clients, architects, and specialist partners, we develop solutions to ensure that even large-format or complex rugs safely reach their destination.

Depending on the project, delivery is made in one piece, in individual strips, or in sections that are only assembled and connected on site. Where necessary, we organize special transports, check alternative entry routes, or coordinate lifting and installation work.

From the initial planning to the finished installation, we consider transport, entry, and assembly as part of the project. Because every architecture presents its own requirements – and often the real challenge only begins once the rug leaves the manufactory.
