Unlike traditional natural fibers, viscose has an exceptional ability to absorb light and reflect it subtly. This creates surfaces with delicate movement and a special spatial effect. Colors appear deep, shimmering, and almost velvety.
In interiors, viscose feels calm and luxurious without being loud. Especially when combined with wool, it produces rugs with a unique material depth: robust yet elegant. Its fine surface creates warmth and a subtle light effect—particularly in living rooms and lounges.
Ruckstuhl uses viscose deliberately where textile sophistication is required. Not as an effect material, but as a consciously applied complement to natural fibers to enhance depth, softness, and light effects.

Workshop designs emerge where material knowledge meets spatial thinking. They express a design culture shaped not primarily by a single author, but by the collective knowledge of our workshop.
Since 1881, Ruckstuhl has developed rugs at the intersection of architecture, craftsmanship and technical innovation. Some products arise from functional requirements, others from a deep understanding of natural fibres, constructions or manufacturing processes. What they share is a precise approach: durable, true to the material and free from short-lived trends.
Ruckstuhl Werkentwurf stands for rugs conceived from within the workshop — developed through experience, refined over time and made for generations.
The cleaning instructions “Cleaning and Care of Viscose Rugs” apply to this product.
Viscose is a regenerated cellulose fiber with a soft feel and characteristic sheen. Depending on the angle of light and the direction of the fibers, lively lighter and darker shades appear. This optical variability is part of the material and is not a sign ...
