Government Council Chamber Lucerne (Ritterscher Palace)
The centerpiece of the room is a conference table of impressive size, where the government meets and receives its guests. The elliptical table rests on a slender, conical base, which houses state-of-the-art AV technology in a space-saving manner. This generous tabletop thus gains a certain lightness and offers optimal legroom. The walnut wood matches the doors and paneling of the baroque hall as well as the existing side tables. The closed inner surface of the base provides visual calm. It is coated with a metallic silk-gloss lacquer and harmonizes in color with the lively Lucerne blue of the carpet. The wool threads in the carpet were alternately tufted or knotted, creating a diagonal checkerboard pattern inspired by antique parquet flooring. If needed, a specific segment of the table can be pulled out to access the inner space.
