Embassy of Switzerland in Minsk, Minsk/Belarus

Creating connections between spaces, styles and countries.

Since 2020, Switzerland has been present in Belarus not only through a diplomatic mission, but also through an embassy. This diplomatic commitment was recently emphasised in an artistic way by designer Frédéric Dedelley, whose specially designed carpets, tables and seating create a special atmosphere and stylishly set the scene for the premises.

The central theme for Frédéric Dedelley's furnishing concept was the Belarusian colours and ornaments that he had picked up on his travels and city tours. He played with them and created patterns for the carpets from stair railings or floor inlays, for example. Frédéric Dedelley has brought the strong, almost Mediterranean façade colours of churches or sports stadiums into the subdued light of the interiors and also made them a little bit more Swiss. Each room was given its own leading colour and thus its own special atmosphere. In the dining room, it is a mountain blue that, together with the subtle red tones of the seat upholstery and the dark table, creates a serene calm. In the lounge, the red and pink of the textiles dominate, while the yellow of the carpet stands out in the vestibule.

Ruckstuhl's in-house customising department develops individual area rugs for bespoke project requirements, such as for the embassy in Minsk. This can be a modification of an existing Ruckstuhl rug, such as a different pile height, a new combination of materials or other customisations. Ruckstuhl also realises completely new rug developments in order to meet requirements and wishes unconditionally. Customer-specific requirements in terms of colour, material, design and construction can be implemented to create an individual composition of a rug - starting with just one piece. There are almost no design limits to the visions. The creative possibilities range from the traditional elements of the weaving trade to the latest robot and CAD technology, right through to individual requests for customisation and finishing.

In order to faithfully reproduce Frédéric Dedelley's specifications for representative use, the colour mixtures of melange virgin wool yarns were dyed in the Emmental and processed on the tufting robot in Ruckstuhl's Langenthal factory into high-quality unique carpets according to special specifications.
