The national fiber of Colombia

 

The fique fiber comes from Colombia. In partnership with a knitting enterprise, Ruckstuhl has made the fiber a new addition to its assortment. Fique is practically the national fiber of Colombia. Used in former times for the production of coffee bags and agricultural yarns, this natural resource was discovered by Ruckstuhl by a miraculous coincidence, when partnership with a knitting enterprise in the Colombian heartland first gave a hint of what could be achieved using this durable and versatile fiber.

    • Fiqué is harvested, washed and colored by hand in Colombia.
    • Fiqué can be colored very well thanks to its smooth fiber structure and has a fine sheen.

    • Fiqué is free of pollutants.
    • Fiqué has a regulatory effect on the climate of the room, as it can absorb up to 420 g (15 oz) moisture per square meter (20% of its own weight).
    • Fiqué has a cooling effect in the summer and a warming effect in the winter. It is suitable for all seasons.
    • Fiqué carpets can be produced with a minimum of energy.
    • Fiqué is electrostatically neutral.
