Maglia Classico - Vivid and rich.
The fique fiber comes from Colombia. In partnership with a knitting enterprise, Ruckstuhl has made the fiber a new addition to its assortment. The natural material is spun by hand in the Colombian Andes, and then knitted into uniquely beautiful carpets using big knitting needles.
Maglia is the name of the collection created in this way. It comes in 3 different carpets in thirty vivid colour shades that could hardly be made any more expressive than they are in these combinations. Depending on the colour shade chosen, each carpet is knitted in between 2 and 3 colour-coordinated fique yarns. The craftsmanlike processing of the irregular material results in wonderfully authentic patterns. The manual production of a Maglia rug measuring 2 x 3 metres takes something like one week. First of all 40 cm wide lengths are knitted, the length being a matter of individual choice, and then these are attached to one another.
