Good reasons for Ruckstuhl

Since 1881, people have been trying to copy our carpets, but only trying.

Ruckstuhl is the leading manufacturer of carpets made from natural fibres.

The art of weaving is one of the foundations of our civilisation and cultural-historical development. As a carpet producer with a long tradition, we are still in this ancient cultural stream today, but as people and companies of the 21st century. Since 1881 we have been producing carpets from natural fibres with the aim of quality standards, material aesthetics and ecological consistency. At an early stage, Ruckstuhl was concerned with the further development of natural fibres and the definition of quality standards for the work and contract sector. Today, for example, the demands on the resilience of natural fibres have been met by using extremely hard-twisted yarns and the heaviest looms in production. The unique know-how acquired over more than 140 years is repeatedly called upon by renowned architects, fashion companies but also by discerning private customers.

What distinguishes us from others is the original.

Each copy of a Ruckstuhl carpet is always just a copy. To define an original, we like to quote the Brockhaus here: "Original, independent, genuine, self-created, immediate; deviating from the ordinary, archetype, authenticity, creative peculiarity".

Culture lives from originals, not copies. For years, the number of patents filed in Europe has been decreasing. At Ruckstuhl, we want to counter this worrying development with real innovative power. To this day, we are setting milestones for the industry with the use of new web technologies. Our developments such as the textile second backing CottonBac, fibre finishes such as the anti-wear finish for heavy-duty use, fire protection for the contract sector or outstanding light fastness in our colours are among the benchmarks in the industry. And our design is a benchmark in the market.

Design claim

We reduce to the essential, keeping aesthetics and function in mind. In product design, we strive for high-quality and timelessly valid design. In addition to the harmonious combination of function and aesthetics, the focus of our design intentions is therefore on the consistent statement of material, structure and colouring.

You decide which style, which colours and which materials you would like to have on your floor. Our collection presents you with a wide variety of edgings and material combinations. Together, this gives you around 40,000 possibilities for creating a unique Ruckstuhl floor.

All Ruckstuhl collections are valid for many years. Our classics Calicut, Manila and Jaipur, for example, have been in production for over 50 years.

The quality of our carpets is not only proven by standards and tests, but by the years.

We have many years of experience in the field of natural fibres with numerous references. We also prefer to work with important fashion designers and renowned companies such as Hermès, Max Mara, Loro Piana, Off White and many more. We would be happy to send you an excerpt from our current list of references on request.

The decision in favour of Ruckstuhl carpets is based on the convincing proof of their high durability. In addition, the incomparably natural character of Ruckstuhl carpets qualifies them as the ideal textile structure for bringing lively design to often expansive areas. Areas of application for natural fibre carpets include all public spaces, such as sales and presentation rooms, offices, museums, theatres, libraries, churches, etc. - Ruckstuhl natural fibre carpets have proven themselves in practice for many years, even under the heaviest of loads.

As consistent processors of natural fibres, we take it for granted that quality is maintained to the highest ecological standards. Quality tests provide us with the most important basic information. They always concern the existing production and new developments in comparison to our competitors and to other fibre material. Because our artistic claims are only justified if we can also prove excellent usage properties of natural materials.

And so each of our carpets is tested:

  1. Elasticity test by tensile and buckling test in our own laboratory.
  2. Fabric abrasion test in our own laboratory.
  3. External wear test programmes in analogue or alternative form by neutral, state-recognised test institutes.
  4. Practical tests under extreme conditions and user frequencies, e.g. department stores and railway stations.

Living health and ecological consistency are ensured at Ruckstuhl through ongoing and elaborate testing for harmful substances in independent laboratories, e.g. the German Carpet Research Institute in Aachen.

Don't think you can't clean natural fibre carpets

The once feared susceptibility to dirt, which mainly occurred when using undyed, natural-coloured fibres, has been reduced at Ruckstuhl through the development of modern, ecologically sensible cleaning methods. Today, it is possible to professionally clean carpets made of natural fibres with the Ruckstuhl cleaning system without any problems.

For proper care, you need a powerful hoover, possibly even with an electric brush. To prevent the natural fibres from drying out, an average humidity of 45 - 60 % is recommended. And if "it" should happen, our cleaning hotline will help you.
